‘Duck Dynasty’ star Sadie Robertson reveals ‘shocking things’ she’s been told during photo shoots

“Duck Dynasty” star Sadie Robertson, known for her bold statements about her Christian faith, has ventured into the world of modeling, and what she’s heard so far is pretty stunning.

In a Facebook post over the weekend, the 20-year-old reality TV star opened up about the “shocking things” she’s been told — and experienced — during her brief modeling career.

“A few months ago, I showed up for a photoshoot that I had thought was going to be a natural no makeup photoshoot,” she explained Sunday. “The director of the shoot took a quick look at me and said, ‘Nope this girl does not have the face to pull off a no makeup shoot.’”

After the director criticized Robertson’s looks, the young model said, a team of makeup artists went to work, spending two hours “making it look as though I had no makeup on.”

And this wasn’t Robertson’s first negative experience with modeling. In fact, she’s had a handful of demeaning interactions during photo shoots.

“I have never thought of myself as a model, but getting to dip my toes a little in this industry I’ve heard shocking things, had my stomach ‘fat’ pinched to make sure I knew which part I needed to get rid of,” she wrote. “I’ve been told if I would loose [sic] 10 pounds then I may look like an actual model.”

But rather than allowing the harsh, mean-spirited critiques get her down, Robertson said the comments have reminded her of where she finds her true identity: In her Christian faith.

“These things at one point in my life would of really hurt me, but now I smile because I know my identity does not lie in my looks, my pictures, people’s comments or my Instagram,” she wrote. “My identity lies within the hands of my God who I believe created me to be fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Robertson was referring to Psalm 139:14, which reads, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

In response to the whole ordeal, Robertson decided to have her own photo shoot — and she did it without a hint of makeup.

“My friend and I went out at sunrise yesterday to remind ourselves of real beauty and went without makeup,” she wrote. “The beauty surrounded us, and was flowing from within into our conversations.”

So far, Robertson’s Facebook post has received more than 87,000 likes and it has been shared nearly 15,000 times.
